Welcome to FS1 Rainbow (Nursery)
Our teacher is Mrs Drennan
Mrs Clayton is our Nursery Nurse.
Nursery is located on our Rosehill Site.
You can visit the Nursery Class Blog at:
In Nursery we have been looking at lots of different types of books including rhyming books, story books and non- fiction books.
Reading books help your child to become aware of the way stories are structured. You can help by encouraging suggestions on how the story might end and taking time to describe the main story settings, events and principal characters.
It is important that your child recognises rhythm in spoken words and has an awareness of rhyme and alliteration. (Rhyme-hen, ten, pen, Alliteration- sea, sand, sun- same initial sound).
We have been learning nursery rhymes about time. Wee Willy Winky and Hickory Dickory Dock. It is important to use everyday language related to time, talking about yesterday, tomorrow as well as looking at time on the clock and related vocabulary. We have really enjoyed listening for rhyme in words, playing with our rhyming cards, rhyming bingo, looking at our rhyme books and even building walls for Humpty Dumpty!
We have been continuing to learn our letter sounds and have covered many sounds including;
s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u… and are now making words using these letter sounds.
It is important children know that print carries meaning and, in English, is read from left to right and top to bottom.
RE Stories about Jesus
We have been reading stories from the Bible including The Good Samaritan, The Wise and Foolish Builders, Daniel, Moses and Noah Reading stories develops your child’s listening skills by engaging them in activities such as story time, singing songs and nursery rhymes; this also develops your child’sconcentration skills.
Here comes the sun!
We have had such fun this year and we are now looking forward to meeting our new class teacher and friends. We will be visiting our new classes and getting more familiar with school, ready for September!
Our final topic is ‘Here comes the sun’. We will be continuing with our phonics, writing our names and looking at numbers as well as much more. Keep a look out on our Nursery notice board to see what we are doing each week.
Please remember as the weather changes it is important for the children to be wearing sun cream and hats to keep them safe in the sun. Please make sure cardigans, jumpers and jackets are labelled.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education.
Finally, we hope your child enjoys their last term in Nursery, we certainly will. They have been a pleasure to teach and we wish them all every success in their new classes and future at Holy Trinity Rosehill.
